Today I made Jake from the show Adventure Time for my friend David. I didn’t have a pattern at all to go by, but I think I did a perty good job coming up with one of my own!

Adventure Time’s Jake

Materials:
Yellow yarn (then yellow I used was a little too yellowy.. In the show he’s more orangy-yellow but I just used what I already had)
Black felt
White felt
Stuffing
Sewing needle
Crochet needle size G
Hot glue gun

Instructions:

Body:

Chain two, work six single crochets in first stitch.
Row 1: 2 single crochets in each stitch around.
Row 2: Single crochet in one stitch, then 2 single crochets in the next. Repeat around.
Row 3: Single crochet in the next two stitches, then 2 single crochets in the next stitch. Repeat around.
Row 4: Single crochet in the next three stitches, then 2 single crochets in the next stitch. Repeat around.
Rows 5-16: Single crochet in each stitch around.
Row 17: Single crochet in the next three stitches, then decrease stitches by crocheting two stitches together. Repeat around.
Row 18: Single crochet in the next two stitches, then decrease stitches by crocheting two stitches together. Repeat around. Stuff as you work.
Row 19: Single crochet in the next stitch, then decrease stitches by crocheting two stitches together. Repeat around.

Face:

Chain 18.
Row 1: Single crochet in each stitch. Chain 1 and turn.
Row 2: Half double crochet in each stitch.
Fold piece in half and sew to front of body in the shape of Jake’s mouth (a tight “u” shape)

Ears (make two):

Chain 2. 6 single crochets in first stitch.
Row 1: Single crochet in each stitch around.
Row 2: 2 half double crochets in one stitch, 3 double crochets in the next stitch, 2 half double crochets in the next stitch, single crochet in the next stitch, slip stitch in the next stitch.
Sew ear to head with longer half down.

Tail:

Chain 9. Turn and single crochet in the second stitch from the hook. Continue to the end and then sew to back of body.

Legs (make 4):
Chain 2. Work 6 single crochets into first chain.
Row 1: Single crochet in each stitch around.
Row 2: Decrease stitches by crocheting two together, one single stitch, decrease again. (there should be 3 stitches now.
Rows 3-6: Single crochet in each stitch around.
Put a stick or something sturdy inside the leg to make the dog stand up. Sew leg to bottom of body

Eyes and nose:

Cut two circles in black then two in white a little smaller for the eyes. Then cut an oval for the nose. Use a hot glue gun to put these on.
